We started off candid, grabbing some beautiful shots of them walking up the stairs. Beginning with candids was a fabulous way to get everyone loosened up for the remainder of the session, allowing us to transition into more in-depth posing.  Some of our favorite moments were in the elevator areas of the Statehouse. The first elevator we found was a stunning yellow gold, the lighting was perfect for some glowy, low lighting shots. I focused on giving them a wide variety of poses, many of which involved distance between them (such as standing on opposite sides), while some poses were more romantic and candid, involving anything from kissing to running toward me hand-in-hand.

As we ventured further into the Statehouse, I made sure the checkerboard floors had their moment to shine. I asked the couple to dance in the middle of the floor, and they did not disappoint! Dancing is one of my favorite ways to let couples get lost in the moment and to get some great movement shots. During this portion of the session, we found the most beautiful emerald green elevator and naturally stopped for some great shots there. Sydney had the perfect idea to get some birds eye view shots of them from the elevator stairs, which ended up being some of my favorites! We ended the shoot in front of an upstairs window with sunshine pouring in, the lighting was beyond what we could've dreamed of and made for moody, captivating pictures.

The Statehouse had a few other photographers there shooting, but everybody was so respectful of each other's shots! My favorite part of the session was the workers and tourists in the building congratulating Sydney & Aunika, it truly brought a smile to all of our faces.

I can't wait to capture this beautiful couple's wedding day. If it is anything close to the vibe of their engagement session, it is sure to be a breathtaking, emotional, and PERFECT wedding!
